JJ Yeley began racing when he was 10 where he took part in the Arizona Quarter Midget Racing Association. Using a forged birth certificate, Yeley started racing midgets at age 14 and became the youngest driver to apply and receive a United States Auto Club (USAC) license.

Sterling Marlin was born in Columbia, Tennessee. The son of Coo Coo Marlin, Sterling had his starts in his fathers pit crew. Marlin made his NASCAR debut in a rather untraditional manner having to take over when his father injured himself during the Nashville Speedway in 1976. The many races to come after that saw Martin climb to the top.

Kasey Kahne grew up racing on dirt tracks in his hometown of Enumcla. He took to open wheel sprint cars at Deming Speedway at aged 17 in Deming, Washington. Not many rookies have been able to leave an impression as Kahne has. He had already become a household name at the end of his rookie season during the NASCAR NEXTEL runs.

Denny Hamlin was born in Tampa, Florida and started racing go karts when he was 7 years old. By the time he was 16, Hamlin had switched to sturdier racing cars. Career highlights include winning the Raybestos Rookie of the year and getting into the NASCAR record books for being able to score the highest ever points finish for a rookie.
